Lidia Cangiano is a theater director and actor based in Berlin, Germany. With a background in physical theater and dance, she focuses her work on the poetics of movement, space and objects. Her theater is visual, sensitive and engaged in socio-political and anthropological contexts. Her research developed in urban contexts with site-specific theater installations and performances, drawing from her interdisciplinary collaboration with musicians, writers, painters, photographers, dancers, and visual artists in order to create a collective working method that engages dynamically with the audience and performative space.

Nomadism and migration issues, the confrontation between western and eastern cultures, and their hybrid forms of expressions, are the main focuses of her interest and research. Hers is a theater where the artistic creation does not lose touch with the realities of the world, but which yet maintains a high degree of poetic vision and social criticism.
